Challenge

Djuric Trucking faced significant challenges due to its reliance on a paper-based system for managing transportation orders and dispatching loads. A large portion of their business involved shipping container moves—picking up containers from rail yards, delivering them to customers, and returning them to designated locations. However, coordinating these operations was complex. Scheduling drivers and trucks, managing pickup and drop-off times, navigating Chicago’s notorious traffic, and adhering to strict working hours all presented constant hurdles. These complications often resulted in additional costs, such as late fees, higher fuel expenses, and paying drivers for extra trips. Furthermore, Djuric Trucking could not bill customers until drivers submitted proof of deliveries, a process that could take days, as drivers didn’t report to the office daily. This delay often caused paperwork to be lost, leading to further setbacks, delayed billing, and ultimately, cash flow issues.

Solution

Wych Works, LLC. was brought in to help Djuric Trucking digitally transform their manual, paper-based processes to a streamlined digital system tailored to their operations. The project was rolled out in multiple phases, starting with the development of a custom web application to manage transportation orders and driver dispatches. This system was then integrated with their existing QuickBooks accounting software to automatically generate invoices and process driver payments for completed jobs. In later phases, the solution was expanded to integrate with their asset tracking system, enabling real-time GPS and telematics data for move completion. Additionally, a mobile app was developed to provide dispatch details and allow drivers to capture proof of delivery using their device's camera.
